All Smiles

Trinity Taekwon-Do regularly participates in regional competitions and while students routinely place high in individual and team medal rankings, it's not all about the medals or trophies.  Real success is the long-lived changes that these medals and trophies only highlight through these physical accomplishments.

The true marker of changes is clearly evident in the testimonial of many of our students as reveal through these parents comments.

"We have three children enrolled at Trinity Taekwon-Do. While they are all very different, they have all benefited immensely in their own unique ways with their experience at this school. Self-confidence has skyrocketed, they have all learned a sense of belonging and camaraderie with this wonderful, caring group of people.

All of the instructors at Trinity Taekwon-Do, Master Neidig, Mrs. Neidig, and Mr. Avila have always shown caring, concern, and sensitivity to the kids’ individual needs while providing excellent training and instilling a sense of self-worth for each child. All three of these instructors certainly provide an outstanding role model for our children and all of the students at the school. It is a wonderful experience to watch the class grow from young white belts who, over time, mature and are given opportunities by the instructors to become leaders within the class.

The most dramatic change we have seen is in our son, Alex, who was generally shy and unsure of himself. Over the past three years, Alex has grown into a self-confident young man who readily expresses his pride in his accomplishments. We see this confidence throughout all of his activities now and attribute this change to his joining Trinity Taekwon-Do. " - Susan and Paul Santilli

Success at the Top!

At Trinity Taekwon-Do we create winners. We forge strength from weakness and grace from awkwardness. Our student’s learn that respect is gained and all good things come from hard work.

Through this process students change. They become stronger, more confident and to do anything.

This page is a testament to our student's growth as individuals through the benefits of Taekwon-Do martial art at Trinity Taekwon-Do.

How Taekwon-Do changed my life
By: Mr. Ed Garneau, 2nd Gup Red Belt
March 2008

"I took up Taekwon-Do when I was 17 years old (28 long years ago!).  Back then I was a skinny little high school kid who was unsure of himself and lacked confidence.  By training in Taekwon-Do, I learned to be confident, disciplined, and to never give up.  The tenants of Taekwon-Do (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, indomitable spirit) became more than words to me, they literally became part of my life.

I didn’t know it then, but ultimately these tenants helped me to enter my first career as a United States Air Force fighter pilot.  I needed perseverance to face the seemingly overwhelming odds of obtaining a pilot slot, completing Officer Training School, completing pilot training, and being selected to fly fighters.  The competition was fierce, but the indomitable spirit taught by Taekwon-Do kept me going.  Obviously, the courtesy and integrity I learned played a huge role in my position as an Officer and as a pilot.  Ultimately, all the tenants were with me when I flew in combat for over 100 total Desert Storm/Shield missions.  I never knew when I started Taekwon-Do that the very tenants that I learned would be needed in a literal life-or-death scenario such as combat.

I’ve had the pleasure after many years of not training to take up training again as an adult, and more importantly, as a parent.  I’ve watched my son start his own growth in Taekwon-Do, and am still amazed at how the art seems to be changing and shaping his character, all in a positive way.  Time will tell if he gains such life-altering “attitude adjustments” as I did from Taekwon-Do, but so far it seems he will.

It is hard to adequately express how much my life is different because of my Taekwon-Do experience, but I know the difference is monumental.  I actually place Taekwon-Do in the top 5 things that made me who I am today.  I will never regret joining Taekwon-Do back in 1978, and will always be thankful for what it has done to shape my life.

Ed Garneau
2nd gup red belt.

The instructors at Trinity

Not enough can be said, or is said, about the instructors at Trinity.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Master and Mrs. Neidig for a number of years, and have now known Mr. Avila for several years as well.  The dedication of the instructors is unsurpassed, as I know they all sacrifice an enormous amount of time teaching, training, and passing on their obvious love for the art to all of their students.  None of them do this for money, as simple mathematics proves there’s hardly any money in teaching and running a school.  They all do this for love of the art, and I would say their love of their students.  It’s not hard to see their passion for the art of Tae Kwon Do, and all students (but especially younger ones) learn to emulate what they see from these exceptional teachers.

Even though I started Taekwon-Do 30 years ago, I still remember how my first instructor, a Mr. Charles Sereff, IV Dan  (now Grand Master Sereff, IX Dan), became a cornerstone figure in my very young adult life.  I very much looked up to him and wanted to develop my character to be like his.  I suspect this same effect happens with many young students, and is happening with literally hundreds of students in regards to Master Bob Neidig, Mrs Pam Neidig, and Mr. Charles Avila.

We are very fortunate as students to have them as instructors, but even more fortunate as parents to have them as role models for our children."

Mrs. Gayle Yeo
February 2008

"My oldest son joined Trinity Taekwon-Do back in 2001 when he was 9 years old and just diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome.  His neurologist suggested that a marital arts program could help him cope with the diagnosis, so we found Trinity and signed him up. We chose Trinity because it was affordable. We stayed with Trinity because of the instructors and the students.

In the beginning when my son's tics were at their worst, the instructors were always patient and understanding. They set a good example to the students so that mimicking and being made fun of were not encouraged. Even though it was still difficult to see my son struggle, especially because he needed to be still and to pay attention, I knew that he was safe here.

Since that time, my other two children joined the school.  I can honestly say that my children are who they are today in part because of what they learned at Trinity. I see that they have confidence in who they are and how they interact with others. The life lessons they learn here are carried over to their schools and their friendships.

Most significant of all is the sense of an extended family that we feel with everyone at this school. Master Neidig, Mrs. Neidig and Mr. Avila have always shown kindness and encouragement to my children. The students and their parents have also shown a comradarie that I'm sure is not present in other schools. There is competition of course, but there is also pride and teamwork here."
